History

The Band was first formed in 1896 and led by Ellesborough man, George Birch, (a local coal merchant who bought the Band's instruments and whose four daughters all played)

The Band has continued under many leaders since then, only pausing for two World Wars, and was invited to play Christmas Carols at nearby Chequers for Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain in 1938.

More recently, in 1992 the Band had the honour of playing before Prince Charles and Princess Margaret at the Ludwig Guttman Sports Stadium in Stoke Mandeville.

The Band has undertaken tours to Germany and France and had a string of competition successes in the early 1990s, winning several awards and reaching The National Brass Band Finals at the Royal Albert Hall in 19xx and 19xx.
